Confirmed Speaker Bios
Samuel Yang, CEO, JA Solar

Mr. Yang is the founder of JA Solar and has been the Chief Executive Officer since 2005. Before founding JA Solar, he established Sunshine International Australia Pty Ltd in 1997 and Shanghai Tianxin Electronic Pty Ltd in 2002 and cofounded of Suntech Power Co., Ltd. and CEEG Nanjing PV-tech Co. He held an executive position at Suntech Power Co., Ltd from 2000 to 2002.
Mr. Yang received his Master Degree in Economics from Macquarie University in Australia and his Bachelor Degree in Economics from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.
Milton Costa Filho, GM, PetroBras México
Mr. Filho is the General Manager of Petrobras México, after serving as Adviser to the President of Petrobras. He joined Petrobras in 1977 and has held various positions such as engineering, communications and marketing, and international business, as well as in three subsidiaries of Petrobras: Petrobras Distribuidora (retailing), Interbrás (trading) and Braspetro (E & P).
Mr. Filho was Executive Director of the 17th World Petroleum Congress, held in Rio de Janeiro in September 2002. Currently, he is a member of the Brazilian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council, representative of Petrobras at the National Oil Company Forum and Chairman of ARPEL Board of Directors – Regional Association of Oil and Natural Gas Companies in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Mr. Filho graduated in Chemical Engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 1977, specializing in Process Engineering (UFRJ–77) and in Economic Engineering and Industrial Administration (UFRJ–78). In 1986, he obtained a Master of Science in Production Engineering at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ) and in 1995, an MBA in Marketing at COPPEAD Business School - UFRJ.
Rebecca Tang, President, Mosel Vitelic Inc.
As president, Ms. Tang has successfully led Mosel Vitelic, a semiconductor memory company located in Hsinchu Science Park of Taiwan, into the solar-cell market, having turned a loss into profit within one year after she took over the position at the end of 2005.
Ms. Tang graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, earning a B.S. degree in 1980 and an M.S. degree in 1982, both in electrical engineering. After graduation, she chose the Rockwell International Semiconductor for her first step into semiconductor field and then turned into the Rockwell International Microelectronics Center six years later.
Professor Yi Cui, Stanford University
Yi Cui is an Assistant Professor in Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford University. His current research is focused on nanomaterials synthesis, electronic properties, solar cells, batteries, memories, and sensor devices.
Yi Cui received a B.S. degree in Chemistry in 1998 from the University of Science and Technology of China and a Ph.D. degree from Harvard in 2002, under the supervision of Professor Charles M. Lieber.
Dr. Yi Cui has received numerous awards including KAUST Investigator Award (2008), ONR Young Investigator Award (2008), MDV Innovators Award (2007), Terman Fellowship (2005), the Technology Review World Top Young Innovator Award (2004), Miller Research Fellowship (2003), Distinguished Graduate Student Award in Nanotechnology (Foresight Institute, 2002), Gold Medal of Graduate Student Award (Material Research Society, 2001).
Mark Bramfitt, Principal Program Manager, PG&E
Mr. Bramfitt is a Principal Program Manager in PG&E's Customer Energy Efficiency group, responsible for designing and delivering programs and services to help customers manage their energy use in the high tech industry segment.
His team supports customers in the Silicon Valley and throughout northern California, providing a utility industry-leading program portfolio for data centers and information technology infrastructure, including training and education, technical support, and financial incentives and rebates. From 2006 through 2008, these programs are expected to deliver over 12 megawatts of peak energy demand reduction, with a program budget of over $21 million. Mr. Bramfitt also leads the Utility IT Energy Efficiency Coalition, promoting the adoption of PG&E’s program and service models by over thirty utilities throughout North America.
A licensed mechanical engineer, Mr. Bramfitt has worked in a variety of technical and management positions at PG&E in his twenty-year-plus career, primarily in the energy-efficiency, account services, and corporate communications areas.
Mr. Bramfitt is politically active in the Sonoma Valley, serving as an elected Director of the Valley of the Moon Water District, the chair of the Sonoma Valley Groundwater Basin Advisory Panel, and on several other community boards.
Nagendra Cherukupalli, CEO, Zecon Solar
Nagendra comes with 23+ years of experience from the semiconductor industry. He started his career as an MTS at AT&T Bell Labs, Murray Hill where he spent 6 years as an individual contributor. He then joined Cadence Design Systems where he contributed to various EDA tools and managed several tool groups. After 10 years at Cadence, he joined a Silicon Valley startup, Silicon Value, and setup an ASIC design center for them in San Jose. Two years later, Nagendra joined Cypress Semiconductor where he became the Vice President of Asia-Pac design centers. There he started 2 design centers, one in Hyderabad, India and another in Shanghai, China, and managed a large design team across India, China & USA. He has published over 15 articles, has a US patent, filed for another, and has several key note presentations to his credit. He holds a Master’s degree and Ph.D in Computer Science from Chicago, USA.
Nagendra is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Zecon Solar & Semiconductor, a Silicon Valley startup focused on Mobilizing Energy Independence TM across the globe by designing, deploying and manufacturing solar solutions.
Greg Ye, Partner, NewMargin Ventures
Mr. Ye has over 15 years of venture investment, executive management and consulting experience in the broader IT and other industries, both in China and the U.S. He is currently a partner of NewMargin Ventures, one of the most established domestic private equity firms in China, in charge of broader IT related investments.
Prior to NewMargin, he was a Group Director of Corporate Strategy and Business Development for Cadence, the #1 EDA software company in the world and a Fortune 500 company, where he was in charge of business development effort in Greater China. Prior to Cadence, he worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he spent six years advising high-tech. and financial services companies based in the U.S. and Asia on a wide array of business and financial strategy issues, ranging from venture financing, IPO, mergers and acquisition, business reorganization to global expansion.
Mr. Ye received his MBA from Harvard Business School, his Master of Accountancy degree from Missouri State University and BSEE from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant.
De-Ling Zhou, President, ENN Science & Technology North America Inc.
Dr. Zhou is the president for the recently established ENN Science & Technology North America Inc., a California-incorporated R&D institute for renewable energy & other clean technology. He is also the co-founder of ENN Solar Energy Co. Ltd., and has been serving as its senior Vice President.
Dr. Zhou received his M. Sc. degree in Chemistry (1988) from Peking University of China, and a Ph.D. degree from Switzerland in 1992. He then conducted six years of academic research before started his industrial career in 1998.
Prior to joining ENN Group in 2008, he served at Indium Corporation of America from 1998 to 1999, EKC Technology, Inc. (now DuPont-EKC) from 1999 to 2001, and Honeywell International from 2001 through 2008. His 10+ years of industrial experience has been focusing on material & process development for semiconductor (dielectrics, ARC, etc), electronic packaging (thermal management, surface mount & flip chip), FPD & solid state lighting, and in recent years for solar energy.
