NACSA 2008 China Trip Delegation
First Announcement
(January 18, 2008)

NACSA cordially invites entrepreneurs and business executives to join the 2008 China Trip delegation. The delegation will visit leading corporations, major development areas, as well as key research and academic institutions in China. A great way to build business and personal relationships, participants will be able to have direct dialogues with corporate executives, potential investors, and high-ranking government officials. To join the delegation, an applicant must submit an executive summary of the business (or project) plan, to be reviewed by a committee consisting of NACSA BODs, interested investors, and industry experts in relevant areas. Selected applicants will be notified by April 1, 2008. Selection is based on merits of the plans and credentials of the applicants. Selected or not, all applicants will receive thorough review feedback from the committee on the business plans. Early submission of application is strongly encouraged.

Schedule: April-May 2008 (exact schedule to be finalized)

Tentative list of cities to be visited: Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Wuxi, Hangzhou, etc.

Objectives:
· Have direct dialogues with high-level business executives and government officials in China on career, business, and investment opportunities.
· Exchange information on industry standards, trends, and policies.
· Find out how entrepreneurs and executives live and work in China
· Build long-term relationships with other members in the delegation

Tentative Programs:
· Face-to-face meetings with industry leaders, high-tech company executives, potential investors, and government policy-makers through multiple events in host cities
· Focus group technical seminars and conferences to gain first-hand knowledge
· Site visit to major Chinese high-tech companies, including AMEC, Silicon Federation, Mobim Technologies, Azalea Networks, SAIF Partners (VC), etc.

Who Should Apply?
High-tech company executives/entrepreneurs who:
· Have genuine interest/business needs to undertake China-related projects
· Are currently seeking opportunities to tap into the vast resources in China for marketing and/or funding of product development or business initiatives.
· Want to learn the various aspects of starting/running a business in China, from government policy and industry trends to quality of life.

Qualifications
Applicants must:
· Stay with the group and attend all programs for the entire trip
· Submit a two-page executive summary of the business plan along with a bio. Chinese is preferred, but English is also acceptable. Applicants may use the attached template if so desire. Preferred areas for the projects are IC design, software, semiconductor manufacturing, medical devices, networking, and wireless technologies.
· Have at least a Master’s degree and/or ten years of working experience in relevant industry. Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis depending on the merit of the business plan.
· Speak English and/or Chinese
· Be able to obtain a visa to enter China and return to US

Application Deadline: March 15, 2008

Money Matters:
· Program fee: $500 to cover expenses on the trip, due to NASCA by April 15, 2008. NACSA will arrange with the hosting cities to help defray the cost of the trip whenever possible.
· Participants are responsible for making arrangements and paying for their own international roundtrip air fares
